On Thursday 24th April, our U16s girls' football team completed against Penwortham Girls in the semi-final of the U16s South Ribble Cup final for girls. This has been a campaign involving our staff, along with staff in South Ribble schools, to give girls the same opportunities as the boys.
Our girls played against All Hallows and secured a 2-1 win in the quarter final stage of the competition in November to then progress.
Before the match began against Penwortham Girls, both teams took part in a one minute silence for Mr Davidson, which was a lovely and poignant start.
Once play was underway, Freya took Balshaw's to an early lead of 1-0, which was quickly followed by Imogen making it 2-0. Just before the half time whistle, Autumn increased the score to 3-0. Our victory was completed when Emily, our Captain, scored a final goal to make it a 4-0 victory!
Well done to the whole team for their brilliant team work and dedication: Hannah W, Emily M, Freya A-S, Erin B, Katie A, Kate A, Eve C, Jess H, Imogen C, Chloe D, Emily W ©, Paloma S, Autumn W, Maisy Thornley and Jess A.
Mr O'Neill.
