Lancashire Cup Final for U15 Girls' Team
In December, our U15 Girls’ Football Team were selected to represent the South Ribble’s District U15 team.
U16 Girls in 7-a-side South Ribble Tournament
Well done to our U16 girls' 7-a-side team for competing in the glorious hot weather at Leyland St Mary's on Thursday 23rd April.

National Year of Reading - The Night House - Tutor Time Extract for KS4
As part of our continued promotion of the National Year of Reading with students, pupils in Year 9-11 will be reading an extract from The Night House by Jo Nesbo- The Night House follows Richard, a teenager who moves to a small town.
Honor Races in the British Swim Championships!
We have some exciting news, that Honor, in Year 11, is racing on Friday 17th April at the British Swim Championships in the 50m Butterfly!
National Year of Reading - Tutor Time Extract
This extract is for Years 7 & 8 and focusses on the dementors in the third book of the Harry Potter series. I really do think Harry Potter is the Rolls Royce of fantasy fiction for younger readers. I love the audiobook by Stephen Fry too.

PTA Easter Family Fun Night – Thank You
We were delighted to welcome so many people to our PTA Easter Family Fun Night on Thursday 19th March. It was a fun-filled evening of activities, including bingo, a quiz, races, and ‘roll the money’. It was wonderful to see our school community come together and share such a fun evening.
Super League Basketball Trip
On Sunday 22nd March, seven of our students from Year 8, 9 and 11, along with Mr O'Neill and Mr Butler, went to the Super League Basketball event at the AO Arena.
Rotary Youth Speaks - Grand Final
On Sunday 22nd March, our senior public speaking team travelled to Frodsham for the North of England Rotary Youth Speaks Grand Finals.
National Year of Reading
We are hugely proud of one of our former Year 11 students, who wrote an impressive and engaging opening to a novel during her time here at Balshaw’s. Her work is a fantastic example of the creativity and talent we strive to nurture in our students.
