In celebration of World Book Day 2026, on Thursday 5th March, we have some exciting activities taking place in school.
Dr Breen, our Librarian, has shared the beginning of a story that was written by one of our former students Rebekah. Students will hear the story during tutor time and are asked to write about what happens next…this can be a plot sketch; story board or the next chapter! The lucky winner will receive a book token as their prize.
We will also have guest speakers throughout the week, who will be reading an extract from their favourite book or from a brand-new YA book. There will also be virtual author talks in the library every break and lunchtime culminating in the announcement of the Lancashire Book of the Year shortlist on Friday!
We are a shadowing school so Balshaw's Book Club will read and review all 12 of these books before visiting the authors at UCLAN in July.
Our students have been loving hearing everyone reading and we are looking at continuing.
