I would like to invite you to attend our Year 8 In Person Parents’ Evening on the 24th April 2025. This is an important evening and provides you with an opportunity to meet in person with the teachers of your child. The evening will provide you an ideal opportunity to discuss tracking reports and progress with your child’s teachers.

Year 8 Parents’ Evening will run ‘face-to-face’ in school and appointments will be made using our online system hosted through Synergy. The system allows you to choose your own appointment times with teachers. This will ensure as many parents as possible have an opportunity to speak with their child’s teacher.

Parents' Evening - How to Book Appointments on Synergy

Updated: 21/11/2024 1.32 MB

In order to ensure that every parent/carer has equal opportunity to speak to their child’s teachers the duration of appointments will be strictly limited to 3 minutes. A countdown timer will be present in all the meeting venues so that there is a common start and end point to meetings. We will also be providing a minimum 3-minute break for parents/carers to allow for travel between appointments. Unfortunately, in the interests of fairness to all parents, we will not be able to deviate from the scheduled appointments for the evening so it will not be possible to “drop in” with teachers on the evening to make up time for missed or late appointments. We are also unable to offer more than one appointment with each teacher per child. These appointments can only be made with the person who has been designated as the priority one contact for the child with the school. In the case where a child’s parents are from two different households, we would advise parents to liaise with each other regarding attendance at the appointments.

Appointments can be made from 3.10 pm on 3rd April and will be open until 1.00 pm on Thursday 24th April. Doors will open at 3.50 pm on the day of the Parents' Evening in readiness for appointments scheduled to start at 4 pm.

We will be using 3 central venues in school for appointments; Dance Studio; Main School Hall and the two Restaurant areas of school. Parents/carers will be provided with information on where each member of staff can be found for their appointment on their arrival.

When you are ready to make your appointments, please follow the instructions in the aforementioned guide and follow the necessary steps. If, when you attempt to book an appointment with a teacher, their appointments are full, please contact the teacher via email and they will respond to your query.

If you have any problems booking an appointment using our School Synergy system, please contact school by phone or email (enquiries@balshaws.org.uk)

Kind regards,

Jonathan Morgan
