On Wednesday 23rd March our Year 7 boys football team took part in the Hospital Cup final for Chorley and South Ribble Schools.

They faced St Michaels in the final which was hosted by Chorley FC at Victory Park. Due to the size of the pitch the boys played 11 vs 11 which was new to them as they are used to playing 9 vs 9.

Both teams were fantastic playing some very positive football in what was a very tight and competitive final played in front of a large crowd in the stands. After going 1 - 0 down Balshaw’s fought back to 1 - 1 in the second half after a goal by Euan Fanning.

Balshaw’s were probably the team on top creating the most chances but they just couldn't convert them into another goal. St Michaels then caught us on the break and scored their second goal with only 5 minutes to go. Balshaw’s couldn't get the equaliser and we unfortunately lost 2 - 1.

The boys can be proud of their efforts however and staff from Chorley FC commented on how it was the best school boy final they had watched.
